The Internet of Things (IoT) has started to reshape whole industries across the globe, from manufacturing, transportation, energy, and logistics. It has also started to revolutionize the Philippine HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) sector. With this development, Concepcion Building and Industrial Solutions (BIS) has introduced the only full DC (direct current) hi-wall system using a non-ozone depleting refrigerant and is IoT-ready: the Carrier XPower Silver II.

“Concepcion BIS takes energy efficiency to another level with the Carrier XPower Silver II, an air-conditioning system that packs three impressive features in one model: energy efficiency, environment responsibility, and the innovation of remotely controlling the unit in real time through the IoT. It has a full DC system that uses the R-410A, a non-flammable refrigerant, and can be controlled over the Internet using an app,” shares Rajan Komarasu, the Group Director of Concepcion Industrial Inc.’s (CIC) commercial arm.

The IoT-ready feature basically allows the user to operate the unit remotely, using an app on one’s smartphone and a home Wi-Fi connection.

With its full DC inverter system, the Carrier XPower Silver II uses less energy and delivers faster cooling with up to 15% more air flow. Its refrigerant, R-410A, is a chlorine-free refrigerant that has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP).

“This takes us one step further to realize our commitment under CIC’s Green Footprints Movement, where Concepcion BIS has been converting all of its product lines from R-22 to R-410A. Our goal is to complete the switch ahead of the 2020 deadline of the international agreement to phase out hydro chlorofluorocarbons,” adds Komarasu.

Also part of the Green Footprints Movement, the commercial arm conducts training programs for its partner contractors, referred to as their Business Solutions Partners (BSPs). The program focused on the advantages of R-410A as an environmentally responsible refrigerant and how it also helps users save on operating costs.

Carrier XPower Silver II’s advanced technology was designed for modern urban living, making it ideal for medium rise residential condominiums, small businesses, or even single detached residential homes.
